The Owners
Jeffrey Buben and his wife Sallie are partners in the Fully-Baked Restaurant Group which owns and manages Vidalia and Bistro Bis in Washington D.C. Jeff is a winner of the James Beard Foundation’s “Best Chef in Mid-Atlantic 1999″ and was named “Chef of the Year 1996″ by The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington. He is a 1978 graduate of The Culinary Institute of America and has served on the school’s alumni borad of directors. Prior to opening Vidalia in 1993, Jeff has worked as such notable restaurants as The Sign of the Dove, Le Cygne and Le Chantilly as well as with The Four Seasons and The Mayflower hotels.
The Restaurants
Since it was acknowledged in 1993 as by Bon Appetit as one of the Best New Restaurants in the U.S.,Vidalia has garnered national attention for its regional American cooking and Southern hospitality. Renovated in 2003, Vidalia has consistently been awarded three stars from The Washignton Post, top 100 honors from Washingtonian Magazine, has been the recipient of the DiRona award by the Distinguished Restaurants of North America and earned awards from both Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast.
In 1998 Bistro Bis opened in the Hotel George on Capitol Hill and has accrued numerous honors from both The Washignton Post and Washingtonian Magazine since that time. Regarded as the restaurant “Where Capitol Hill Dines,” The Mobil Travel Guide and AOL City’s Best consistently rank Bistro Bis in the top tier as “Best Hot Spot Restaurant” and “Power Lunch” destination.
